I Can Do That

I was viewing blogs the other day looking for some inspiration. I came a cross this adorable card. I was reading what supplies were used and was bummed to find out she used a Silhouette. Of course..isn't that how it always works? No matter what machine(s) you have, it's never the right one. So after looking at the card for awhile I suddenly had this great idea. I can do this myself. I have put together a little tutorial incase you want to give it a try. My hubby told me to do a video...hahaha..he is so funny.

Here is the card that inspired me. Shari Carroll created this card using Hero Art stamps and digital die cuts.

And here is my card.

I just love when I have an idea and it actually works. It took a few tries but I finally got it. Here is what I did.
I cut out my square using my
Big Shot and a Spellbinder die.
I didn't want the stem from the
flower to go to the edge of my paper.
I covered the bottom edge of my
square with a piece of scrap then
stamped my flower.

Here it is with the scrap paper pulled
away.

I did a couple of lines around the flower
to give it a frame.

Using a craft knife I cut out the spaces
between the flower and the frame. I also
stamped a second flower and cut out
just the center.

I colored the flower and the extra center
with my Copic markers.

I hope you like my creation. If you decide to give it a try let me know. I would love to see what you come up with.

  2. Excellent, Deanna! Firstly, I love your card! The way you did the black polka dots just where they are, the twine ribbon w/button, perfectly centered sentiment . . . and of course your lovely focal point! And secondly, thank you so much for doing the tutorial! I've bookmarked it so I can give this a try in the future!

  10. This is a great technique Deanna and I love it that you didn't use a machine to create your card. We seem to be moving away from old fashioned paper crafting skills these days - what with dies, cutting machines and the like. Its really great to see a beautiful truely handcrafted card. Love it!
